How to Rotate a Template in Canva
Welcome to Ben’s Experience! In today’s blog post, we’re diving into a step-by-step guide on how to rotate a template in Canva. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or just starting out, learning this skill can greatly enhance your graphic design capabilities.
Step 1: Create a New Design
To begin, visit Canva.com and create a new design. For this tutorial, we’ll use custom dimensions. Set the width to 1000 pixels and the height to 500 pixels, then click on “Create New Design.”
Step 2: Add Elements to Your Template
Now that your template is ready, it’s time to add some elements. You can start by inserting a photo or even the Canva logo. To do this, simply select the elements you wish to add and place them on your canvas.
Step 3: Copy Your Elements
Select all the elements on your template by clicking and dragging or using the command keys (Command + C for Mac or Control + C for PC).
Step 4: Create a New Design for Rotation
Next, go to the hamburger menu and select “Create a New Design” again. This time, reverse the dimensions by setting the width to 500 pixels and the height to 1000 pixels. Once you’ve created this new design, you can paste your copied elements by using Command + V (Mac) or Control + V (PC).
Step 5: Position and Rotate Your Elements
After pasting, select all the elements in the new template. Click on the “Position” option in the toolbar, and a new side panel will appear. Here, you can fill in your desired rotation degree, for instance, 90°. Press Enter on your keyboard, and your elements will rotate while remaining in their original positions.
Step 6: Final Adjustments
For a more straightforward rotation process, you can also use the rotation icon available in Canva. This method allows you to keep your elements in order while adjusting their size and position as needed.
