How to Make Mailchimp Email Mobile Friendly

Welcome to Ben’s Experience! In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through the steps to make your Mailchimp email mobile friendly. Ensuring that your emails are optimized for mobile devices is essential for reaching your audience effectively. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Logging into Mailchimp

First, go to Mailchimp.com and log in to your account by entering your username and password.

Step 2: Create a Regular Email

Once logged in, create a regular email using the classic email builder. This will serve as our example.

Step 3: Identify Mobile Unfriendly Elements

Navigate to the design email step. Here, you will notice elements that are not mobile friendly. In our example, the large photo is causing issues.

Step 4: Preview the Email

Before fixing the issue, preview the email. On desktop, it appears correctly, but on mobile, you will see a slider at the bottom indicating it is not mobile friendly.

Step 5: Fix the Issue

To make the email mobile friendly, select the block responsible for the width issue. Click on the source icon and scroll down to add the necessary piece of code. This code ensures the email is optimized for mobile. Copy and paste the code, then save and close.

Step 6: Preview the Changes

After saving, preview the email again. You will see that the email is now mobile friendly.

Step 7: Switch to the New Email Builder (Optional)

If you prefer to avoid adding code for each block, consider switching to the new email builder. Go to your profile icon, click on profile, then settings, and finally details. Change the default email builder to the new builder and save.

Step 8: Create a New Email with the New Builder

Create a new email using the new builder. Select a template and add your content. The new builder automatically optimizes elements for mobile.

In our example, we used a large image, and the new builder ensured it was mobile-friendly without additional code.
