How to Add Vertical Video in Squarespace

Welcome to Ben’s Experience! In today’s post, I’ll show you how to add a vertical video in Squarespace. Whether you’re looking to enhance a blog post or a specific page on your website, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.

Step 1: Log In to Your Squarespace Account

Start by logging in to your Squarespace account at squarespace.com. Enter your email address and password to access your dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to the Desired Page

Once logged in, click on the website button below the Squarespace site where you want to add a vertical video. Go to the “Pages” section, and select the page or blog post where you want to insert the video.

Step 3: Enter Editing Mode

Click on the “Edit” button at the top to enter the editing mode. If you want to replace an existing element, such as a photo, you can delete it by clicking on it and pressing the delete key.

Step 4: Upload Your Vertical Video

Click on the blue “+” icon and select the “Video” option. Upload your vertical video from your computer by clicking on the “Upload File” button. Select your video file and click “Open” to start the upload process. Keep in mind that for a Squarespace Business account, there is a video storage limit of 30 minutes.

Step 5: Customize Video Settings

Once the upload is complete, you can customize the video settings. Set a custom featured image for your video, similar to YouTube thumbnails. You can also mute the video, set it to autoplay, loop the video, and adjust the video player controls.

Step 6: Save Your Changes

Don’t forget to save your changes by clicking the “Save” button in the corner. After saving, click on the “Exit” button and visit your vertical video page live to see the changes.

Adding Vertical Video Without Using Squarespace Storage

If you prefer not to use your Squarespace video storage, you can embed a video from an external source like Google Drive.

Step 1: Upload Video to Google Drive

Go to drive.google.com and upload your vertical video. Once the upload is complete, open the video, click on the three dots in the top right corner, and select “Embed item.” Copy the embed code provided.

Step 2: Embed the Video in Squarespace

Return to your Squarespace page in editing mode. Click on the “+” icon and select the “Embed” option. Paste the embed code you copied from Google Drive into the code snippet box.

Step 3: Save and Preview

Save your changes and exit the editing mode. Preview your website live to see your embedded vertical video.

By following these steps, you can easily add vertical videos to your Squarespace website, either by uploading directly to Squarespace or embedding from an external source. Enhance your site’s visual appeal and provide a better user experience with vertical video content.
