how to start over on squarespace

If you’re considering a fresh start with your Squarespace website, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re looking to redesign your site or need a complete overhaul, starting over on Squarespace is straightforward if you follow these steps.

1. Access Your Squarespace Account

Begin by logging into your Squarespace account. Go to Squarespace.com and sign in with your credentials.

2. Prepare to Delete Your Existing Site

Once logged in, locate the website you wish to start over with. Click on the website to open its dashboard. If you want to delete this site, you’ll need to cancel any active subscriptions and disconnect your domain.

3. Cancel Your Site Subscription

To cancel your site subscription, click on your profile icon and select the website you want to remove. Click on the three dots next to the website and choose the “Delete” option. If you don’t see this option, you must first cancel your subscription.

  • To cancel the subscription, click on the three dots and go to “Billing.” Here, you can manage your subscription and choose to cancel it.

4. Disconnect Your Domain

If your site is connected to a domain, you need to disconnect it before you can delete the site. Navigate to “Domains and Emails” and select “Domains.” Click on the domain you want to disconnect and choose the “Disconnect Domain” option.

5. Cancel Additional Active Subscriptions

If you have other active subscriptions like Equity Scheduling, you need to cancel those as well. Go to “Settings,” find “Subscriptions,” and then “Billing.” Click on the subscription you want to cancel and follow the instructions.

6. Delete Your Website

After canceling all relevant subscriptions and disconnecting your domain, return to your profile and click on the website you want to delete. You should now see the “Delete” option. Confirm the deletion by following the prompts.

7. Create a New Website

With your old site deleted, it’s time to create a new one. Click on “Create Website,” choose a topic or skip this step, and then select whether you want a pre-built template or use the Blueprint AI for a custom design. Pick a design that suits your needs and click “Start with this design.”

8. Set Up Your New Website

After setting up your new website, don’t forget to make it public. Go to “Settings,” select “Website,” then “Site Availability,” and choose “Public.” Save your changes. If you had a domain associated with your old site, go to “Domains and Emails,” click on “Domains,” and use the domain you own if it’s already registered.

Starting over on Squarespace can give your website a fresh look and functionality. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition and get your new site up and running efficiently.
